Best Time to Buy is an independent UK product research project. It records dated price and availability observations so shoppers can see what is known, when it was observed, and where it came from.
The project begins with portable air conditioners because seasonal demand can make prices and stock especially difficult to interpret. Each exact model is tracked separately using identifiers such as GTIN and retailer product codes.
What makes the data different
- Every displayed observation must have a source and timestamp.
- A collection failure is never presented as an out-of-stock result.
- Missing history remains missing; historical prices are not estimated or invented.
- Retailer offers remain separate from the canonical product they describe.
